A Hub for the North East
Northern School of Sound is proud to play an important role in the region's development. n conjunction with our network of contacts in the pro audio, IT and music industries, we are brilliantly placed to keep abreast of technological developments and to pass on our experience to delegates.
A hub for the North East
Northern School of Sound is looking toward the future, and we believe Gateshead is set to become a real cultural hub for the north east. This will come about through hard work, forward thinking, co-ordinated development and high level training - and we plan to play an important role as a centre for creative media and high level training to industry.
Out training centre plays host to demonstrations of the latest pro audio and video editing software, and thanks to our large studio space, we're flexible in the kinds of events we can hold. In conjunction with our network of contacts in the pro audio, IT and music industries, we are brilliantly placed to keep abreast of technological developments and to pass on our experience to delegates.

In recent years, Gateshead and the north east in general has been the site of great developments in the arts and media. The local council has invested very heavily in such projects as the Baltic Centre For Contemporary Art, which opened in 2002, and The Sage Gateshead, which opened in 2004 - a world class concert venue right on our doorstep.
St Mary's Church in the centre of Gateshead has been reborn as a £1.2m Heritage Centre tracing the region's history, and giving visitors the resources to research their family history. We've seen all sorts of public art projects unveiled, from the Angel of the North to the six metre beacons that greet visitors entering town from the quayside.
Big steps have been taken in sport and leisure, with the opening of Gateshead International Stadium in 2006, with attached sports academy - and we've seen the £10m regeneration of Saltwell park, now replete with exotic birds and botanical gardens. The continuing council - supported property renovation program and the projected further development of the riverside area are very positive, forward thinking projects, and we at Northern School of Sound think that Gateshead has a massive amount of potential to play host to great leaps and bounds in the arts, digital media and cultural connections.
